It’s a charity initiative of a pet community

If you are not in Valentine’s day mood, maybe the Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA can help you. The RHSPCA is a community for homeless pets and animal suffering, with the mission of adoption and shelter of unwanted and homeless animals.

For Valentine’s Day, however, they decide to include even those who aren’t in love. So, for $10, the RHSPCA will write down the name of your ex-partner and place it in a litterbox for a cat to poop on.

“People can come in to donate or donate online and mark the little tribute to put their ex’s name there. Our staff will write it down and take care of it for you. People have said it’s a little vengeful, it’s a little therapeutic, and it all goes to a great cause”, Tiffany Corbin, the Marketing and Fundraising Manager at the RHSPCA, said.

If you’re feeling romantic, you can also send some love to any shelter pets participating in the Valentine Hearts fundraising. Simply donate $10 and decorate a valentine, which you can then hand-deliver to any pet and place in their valentine mailbox.

You can stop by and join in the fundraising events without making an appointment. You can also donate online and donations via PayPal and Venmo are also accepted.

Simply attach a note with the fundraiser title, Stupid Cupid or Valentine Hearts, and the name of the pet you’d like your valentine to go to, or the name of the ex you’d like to go pooped on, explained Corbin.

“We have a goal of 100 submissions for both fundraisers, so we’re having a bit of a competition to see which one will be victorious”, Corbin said.
